Report: Israel’s Aggression Against Occupied Palestine, May 1 – May 31, 2016

This report highlights the magnitude of Israel’s daily aggressions against the people of Palestine during May 2016. It shows Israel’s full commitment to its colonization enterprise, which day by day destroys the prospects of a negotiated two-state solution.

 

The beginning of June is bringing a renewed hope through the Paris International Peace Conference. It is due time for the international community to take action in order to stop this daily reality of Israeli violations, crimes, oppression and humiliation against the land and people of Occupied Palestine.

Erekat: The occupying government must recognize the 1967 border, and immediately begin its implementation of signed agreements 

 

 

Dr. Saeb Erekat, the Secretary General of the PLO, stressed that the realization of the two-state solution requires an explicit and clear recognition of the 1967 borders, the immediate commencement and implementation of signed agreements, and a commitment to international law, the UN Security Council, the General Assembly, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

For true reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians, Israel must recognize what it has done to the Palestinian people over the last 68 years.

For the Palestinian people, the Nakba is a collective tragedy whose wounds have yet to heal 68 years later.  What we call the ‘Catastrophe’ is not just the destruction of at least 436 villages or the forced displacement of 70 percent of our people, but of our ethnic cleansing at the hands of a colonialist strategy. For reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians, Israel must recognize what it has done to the Palestinian people.

President Mahmouh Abbas unveil 6-meter Nelson Mandela statue in Ramallah

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday unveiled a statue of Nelson Mandela at a square named the South African anti-apartheid iconin the West Bank city of Ramallah.

“We see the statue as a symbol of friendship, as a symbol of demonstrating our solidarity but also hopefully as an inspiration to the people of Palestine that you indeed would be able to achieve your freedom,” said Johannesburg mayor Parks Tau.

“We are here as the people of South Africa to say we stand in solidarity with you, we stand in solidarity with your struggles and we understand the difficulties that you go through.”

Palestine Sends Humanitarian Aid to Ecuador Earthquake Victims

The Health Ministry of Palestine deployed a team of emergency response and disaster medics to Ecuador on Monday in order to assist the country in its recovery efforts following a devastating 7.8 earthquake that struck the Andean nation Saturday, killing at least 350 people and injuring thousands more.
