Statement by PLO Secretary General Dr. Saeb Erekat on Israeli Killing of Palestinian Teenager Mahmoud Badran

Last night, the Israeli Occupation Forces opened fire at a car in the area between Beit Ur Al- Tahta and Beit Sira, carrying a group of Palestinian teenagers coming back from a visit to the only nearby swimming pool. The incident took place near a bypass road for Israelis, built on private Palestinian land, which is referred to as “road 443” also known as the “Apartheid Road.”

Ramallah – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah issued a statement decrying Israel’s national water company Mekorot's decision to cut off water supplies to several Palestinian cities and villages.

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi yesterday met with British Consul General Alastair McPhail in Ramallah.

Both parties discussed the alarming and worsening conditions on the ground and Israel’s persistent violations of international law and policies of collective punishment and violence. 

This is Israel's response to the Paris Peace Summit, held only a few days ago in the presence of 29 countries from four different continents around the world, in addition to the United Nations, European Union and the Arab League. Israel continues to boycott the will of the world with its insistence on the illegal colonial settlement expansion in Occupied Palestine. This is an insult to the credibility of the international community and its efforts to achieve peace and security for Palestinians, Israelis, and the entire Middle East. 

Secretary General: 20 years of bilateral negotiations have failed. The international community must compel Israel to accept its responsibility as the occupying force and implement the two-state solution.
