Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Israeli Escalation Aims at Weakening PA

Monday, 14 April 2014 09:24

RAMALLAH, April 13, 2014 (WAFA) – Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned in a statement on Sunday the recent Israeli escalation against the Palestinian people, their property and their holy sites, holding the Israeli government responsible for the repercussions on situation in Palestine and in the region as a whole.

In this regard, the ministry condemned Israel’s demolition of EU-financed structures, used to shelter families and to protect them against the harsh weather in al-Eizariya, to the east of Jerusalem.

It also condemned Israel’s retention of clearing bills, bound to the PA, as well as Israel's decision to deny the Palestinians the right to enter Israel in April 14, 15, 20 and 26 under the pretext of the Jewish holidays.

The ministry considered these actions as collective punishments against the people of Palestine and war crimes punishable under the international humanitarian law and the competent international courts.

It finally called upon all countries and the International Quartet to take actions to stop these grave violations and to provide international protection to the Palestinian people to enable them to exercise their right to self determination, to get rid of the occupation and settlement construction as well as to gain their legitimate rights.”
