The meeting and performance on the occasion of the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People 2013

On the occasion of celebrating the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People, November 29th, as well as the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Palestine – Vietnam diplomatic relations, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Hanoi, in coordination with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organization (HAUFO) and the National Library of Vietnam, organized a ceremony at 09:30 on Tuesday, 10th December 2013, at the Library Hall of the National Library of Vietnam, 31 Trang Thi Street, Hanoi.

This occasions is commemorated one year after the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly, on 29 November 2012, of the historic resolution to raise the status of Palestine to a non-member observer State in the United Nations.

Among the VIP guests attending the ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh – Former Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Member of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, Ms. Pratibha Mehta - Resident Representative and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme to Vietnam and Mr. H? Anh D?ng - Chairman of Vietnam’s Committee for Solidarity with the Palestinian people.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Saadi Salama, altAmbassador of the State of Palestine to Vietnam, renewed the Palestinian people's deep gratitude to all Member State, intergovernmental organizations, civil society, brother, sisters, friends, freedom and peace-loving peoples around the world, as well as friendly people of Viet Nam, who continue to steadfastly stand by Palestinian people. They are grateful for their solidarity and support of the Palestinian people’s legitimate national aspirations for the achievement of their freedom and independence and just lasting Peace. He also expressed profound gratitude to the United Nations and all its Agencies for their great efforts in raising awareness of and in defending Palestinian people’s rights. Despite all challenges, hardship and setbacks, Palestinian people continue to have the faith that a just peace can be achieved in Middle East and that right must prevail. 

Ambassador Saadi Salama also extended to the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the government and the friendly people of Viet Nam the warm greetings and sincere thanks of the leaders, government and the people of Palestine on the occasion of celebrating the 25th anniversary of upgrading of the relations between the State of Palestine and Viet Nam to full diplomatic level.

For Palestine, the land still in search of independence, the two words “Viet Nam” has become a symbol of struggling spirit for the national sacred peace. Your solidarity and friendship given to Palestine’s legitimate struggle over decades has become a strong motivation for the two countries to overcome geographical distances to get closer and further promote this special friendship.
