Despite the talks about the efforts to resume the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, the Israeli government, headed by PM Benjamin Netanyahu, continues to annex the majority of the occupied West Bank through the expansion of settlements and the large-scale Judaization operations to complement the establishment of a special entity for settlers and their militias in the occupied West Bank on the ruins of the two-state solution, in order to widen the base of the fanatical majority of supporters of the ruling right-wing in Israel and increase the number of settlers to ensure a clear Jewish majority in the areas classified (A) which consists the majority of the West Bank. In the same context , the Israeli media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu gave the green light to approve the construction of 3829 new settlement units in the West Bank, part of them in the settlements located outside what Israel calls the (huge settlement blocs), in confirmation of what Netanyahu calls the absence of the what so called "isolated" settlements.

Twenty-nine years ago, the Palestine National Council recognized Israel's existence on 78% percent of our historic homeland, and in 1993 the Palestine Liberation Organization reaffirmed its recognition of the State of Israel. This historic compromise is an evidence of our commitment to achieving a genuine and lasting peace with Israel on the basis of ending its belligerent military occupation to establish our independent, sovereign and contiguous State on the internationally -recognized 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.  

Over the past nine months, the Occupying Power has intensified its fierce colonial campaign against the land and people of Palestine as the occupation and siege on Gaza has entered its 10th year. The illegal Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands and settlement construction have violently continued to deny the rights of Palestine as a sovereign, contiguous, and independent State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The overwhelming vote in support of Palestine’s membership is a vote of confidence in Palestine’s law enforcement capabilities and commitment to the core values of the organization. Palestine’s admission to INTERPOL is a victory for law enforcement and global cooperation.

Mr. President of the United Nations General Assembly,

 Mr. Secretary-General of the United Nations,

 Excellencies,

 Ladies and Gentlemen,

Twenty-four years have passed since the signing of the Oslo Accords, an interim agreement that set a five year period for bringing an end to the Israeli occupation, granting hope to the Palestinian people that they would soon achieve independence within their State and achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis. What is left of this hope today?
