For Muslims, Jerusalem is where the prophet Muhammad ascended to the heavens and the ?rst place towards which Muslims prayed, before Mecca.

PLO Executive Committee member, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, marked Palestinian Prisoners’ Day by reaffirming that the freedom of the 5,224 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons remains the PLO’s top priority:
“The Palestinian leadership is currently focusing its efforts on Palestine’s accession to the Four Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949 and the First Additional Protocol, and ensuring their implementation in regards to occupied Palestine, with the issue of Palestinian political prisoners at the forefront.”

JERUSALEM (WAFA) – The Israeli police forces raided al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Wednesday, firing tear gas canisters, stun grenades and firebombs towards the worshipers, leaving 25 of them suffocated with tear gas, according to media sources and witnesses.

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The World Bank will provide $13 million in grant money for environmental projects in the Gaza Strip, a statement said Monday.
According a World Bank statement, the money will go toward providing "long-term solutions to the treatment of sewage and solid waste" in the Strip.

RAMALLAH, April 14, 2014 – (WAFA) – Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued Monday a press statement stating that Israeli ‘Defense’ Minister Moshe Ya'alon is responsible for the recent escalation.
It further stated that Ya'alon should be considered by the international community as the cause of instability.
