Minister Malki: “Today the World is Closer to Ending Impunity and Achieving Justice

ICC hosts welcome ceremony honoring the State of Palestine as a new State Party

This Wednesday afternoon, the ICC hosted an official ceremony welcoming the State of Palestine into the community of States Parties to the Rome Statute. Delivering a statement on behalf of the State of Palestine, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Riad Malki said, "this historical day for Palestine represents an important step towards combating impunity, upholding justice, defending human rights". The Minister added that the guiding principle of all Palestinian actions, including joining the ICC was the pursuit of justice and the advancement of human rights. "Palestine seeks justice, not vengeance... because it is the anchor on which a future of peace and stability can be firmly established", he said.

Israeli forces uproot 300 olive trees in Nablus

NABLUS (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces uprooted 300 olive trees on private Palestinian land in the Nablus village of Salem on Monday, Palestinian liaison officials said.

Director of the Nablus District Civil Liaison Office Luay al-Saadi told Ma'an that Israeli bulldozers uprooted the trees 48 hours after his office requested that Palestinian farmers be given access to plow the land.

The fields are located near the illegal Israeli outpost of Havat Skali.

Abbas Hopes Swedish Recognition to Influence International Community

STOCKHOLM, February 10, 2015 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday expressed hope that the Swedish recognition of the state of Palestine will leverage the international community’s support of the Palestinians' just cause.

Abbas commended Sweden’s recent recognition of Palestine as in independent state, which, according to him, bolsters the Palestinian people’s struggle toward freedom and independence. He called upon other European countries to follow suit.
