Extensive Palestinian Bilateral and Multilateral diplomatic efforts were made by the minister of foreign affairs and expatriates his excellency Dr.Reyad Malki and through official diplomatic channels, to warn the international community and the international organizations of the dangers threatening the two-state solution and the peace process, and the danger of their silence and the ongoing statements of condemnation and declarations.
President Donald Trump’s declaration is a challenge which examines the ability of the United Nations and the international community to endure their legal and moral responsibilities towards the Palestinian people under occupation, and to resolve the conflict in the Middle East by peaceful means and basis sponsored and approved by the international community.
The Ministry asserts that the incapability to hold Israel accountable as an occupying power for its flagrant violations of international law ,and the international community’s negligence to defend the two-state solution have encouraged successive Israeli governments and their allies to persevere their extraordinary measures on the ground to perpetrate the two state solution. Even after Trump’s declaration, the international community was content with only condemnations and denunciation of the declaration. Therefore, the Ministry calls upon the international community and all countries to adopt international resolutions to implement and preserve the two-state solution, and deter the Israeli government to end its rebellion against the international community and international law. Giving the State of Palestine full United Nations membership status, and the recognition of other member states of the state of Palestine, is very crucial at this point as a real test of the international community’s ability to force the Israeli government to recognize the State of Palestine on the basis of the two-state solution.
