Israeli Minister Threatens the Palestinian People with a New “Nakba”

The Israeli Minister of “Regional Cooperation” Mr. Tzachi Hanegbi has threatened the Palestinian people with a new “Nakba”. This is yet another example of official incitement against the people of Palestine coming from the Israeli government.

Nakba, the Arabic term for catastrophe, refers to the campaign of ethnic cleansing and forcible displacement of population carried out by Zionist militias and the Israeli army, which resulted in the expulsion of almost 70% of the Palestinian population from their homes and homeland. Mr. Hanegbi is threatening the Palestinian people with what would amount to a war crime and a crime against humanity, in a similar manner to several other Israeli officials, who have been threatening the Republic of Lebanon for the past few weeks.
This is not an isolated event. Israeli officials are increasingly inciting against the Palestinian people and the two-state solution, actions which have never been denounced by the international community. Israel’s growing culture of incitement continues to escalate tensions in our region, while the Israeli Government continues to take actions that threaten the historic status quo of the Holy Sites in Occupied East Jerusalem, an integral part of Palestine.
On July 31st the Israeli Minister of “Jerusalem Affairs” Mr. Zeev Elkin, a settler living in the illegal settlement of Kfar Eldad, will conduct a tour with fanatic Jewish fundamentalists through the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem calling to change the status quo of Al Aqsa Mosque Compound.
We call upon the international community to hold Israel, the occupying power, accountable for its actions that fuel our region and aim at sabotaging any prospects of just and lasting peace.

Please find below a translation of the statement by Mr. Hanegbi:

“My message to the Palestinians in an interview with Channel 2 and other media outlets following the cruel murder in the settlement of Halamish:

This is how a ‘Nakba’ begins.
Just like this.
Remember ’48.
Remember ’67.
It begins with zealot religious leaders whom Allah promised the whole world.
It continues with radical, reckless leaders for whom the spilling of blood, even if it is your blood, fits their own short-term interests.
And it permeates the religiously ignorant masses who only yearn to become “martyrs.”
Remember ’48.
Remember ’67.
When you want to stop it all it will already be gone.
It will already be after the third “Nakba.”
After the disaster. After the tragedy.
You’ve already paid that crazy price twice for your leaders.
Don’t try us again because the result won’t be any different.
You’ve been warned!”
