The National Council denounced the stance of the US House of Representatives, which condemned and denounced the UN Security Council resolution (2334) which demanded the Israeli government to immediately halt the building of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as a platform to peace and ending the occupation.

The Palestinian National Council demanded, in a statement issued by its President Saleem Alzanoon today, that the US House of Representatives should stand by the Palestinian just and rightful cause, which was approved and guaranteed by international legitimacy.  Also, demanded the US to stand up for upholding all peace efforts in the region instead of encouraging aggression and occupation and the threat posed by policies and procedures of colonial settlements in Palestine, which threatens the security and stability of the entire region.

The Palestinian National Council  stressed that the international consensus given to the UN Security Council resolution on the settlements came after the world became fed up with the policies of settlement that pose a threat to achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

The Palestinian National Council stressed that this UN resolution represents a real opportunity to achieve peace in the region, calling on all international and regional institutions, associations, international parliaments, and the parliaments of the world, including the US Congress, both houses of Congress to support the resolution and pressure the Israeli government to abide by and implement it.
