Israeli Forces Open Fire on Farmers near Khan Yunes

KHAN YUNES (WAFA) – Israeli forces, stationed on Gaza borders, Sunday opened fire at Palestinian farmers to the east of the city of Khan Yunes, in the southern Gaza Strip, according to media sources.

WAFA correspondent said army soldiers, stationed on border watchtowers, opened live fire towards the farmers while they were working in their own agricultural land. The farmers were then forced to leave the area lest being injured or even shot dead by the Israeli fire.

To be noted, the incident was not the first to occur in the area; Israeli forces have repeatedly attacked civilians and unarmed famers, whose land is adjacent to the borders with Israel, under security pretences.

The Israeli authorities force a no-drive and buffer zone within 300 meters into the borders of Gaza, leaving large tracts of Palestinian owned land unused. Farmers predominantly put their lives at risk when seeking to cultivate their own land, and dozens of farmers were even killed when they had attempted to reach their property.
