Wednesday, 07 May 2014 11:01

TULKARM, May 6, 2014 – (WAFA) – Palestinian Premier Rami Hamdallah stated Tuesday that the resumption of negotiations is tied to releasing veteran Palestinian prisoners.

Hamadalla noted if Palestinian prisoners are not released, neither President Mahmoud Abbas will return to negotiations table nor comprehensive peace will be achieved.

On intra-Palestinian reconciliation, Hamadalla expressed his hopes that prompt steps would be taken to achieve it and noted Abbas’ tireless efforts in this regard.

Hamadalla made these statements while taking part in a sit-in staged in front of the Red Cross headquarters in Tulkarm demanding the release of all prisoners.

Meanwhile, Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Qaraqe?, who took part in the sit-in, called for intensifying actions against and exerting more pressures on the Israeli government to solve the case of Palestinian prisoners, especially those who are on hunger strike.

He further underscored the fact that the issue of Palestinian prisoners should not be “subject to the Israeli mood.”
