Hanoi – In commemoration of the United Nation’s International Year of Solidarity with the Palestinian People 2014 and the International Day for Solidarity with the Palestinian People (November 29th), the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Hanoi, in coordination with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organization, launched the 2014 solidarity activities on November 6th, 2014 at a meeting and film screening in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ho Anh Dung, Chairman of The Vietnam Committee for Solidarity with Palestinian People, reaffirmed the support and solidarity that Vietnam has always given to Palestinian people during their legitimate struggle for freedom. He expressed a strong belief that with the support from international community, the cause of Palestinian people would win glorious victories.

Palestine Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Saadi Salama, extended to the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the government and the friendly people of Viet Nam the warm greetings and sincere thanks for their friendship and solidarity for Palestine’s legitimate struggle over decades. He also strongly condemned the recent Israel’s war of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, as well as the fact that Israel’s ignoring international community’s call to stop illegal settlement construction on occupied Palestinian territories.

Ambassador Saadi Salama also stressed that Israel’s recent escalation in Jerusalem, including banning Palestinian prayers from entering Al Aqsa Mosque while permitting extremist Israeli settlers and some people from the Knesset to illegally break into the mosque, is aimed at turning this political conflict into a religious conflict, threatening to plunge the already volatile region into great violence, chaos and instability.

Palestinian Ambassador concluded his speech with 10 words very familiar with Vietnamese people which mean: “Justice will definitely prevail, unjustness will be definitely defeated”.

The Oscar-nominated documentary “Five broken cameras” was screened at the solidarity meeting in Hanoi yesterday for Vietnamese friends and people.

Other solidarity activities will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during November and December 2014.
