Hanoi – In the morning of 9th October 2014, Palestine Ambassador Saadi Salama attended and delivered a speech at the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Vietnamese language at Hanoi University, where he used to study in the 1980s.

In his speech, the Ambassador warmly congratulated the Department of Vietnamese language for its achievements during the past 10 years and sincerely thanked his teachers at the department, who taught him the first Vietnamese words. He recalled the vivid memory of student life at Hanoi University on the first peaceful years, where he received a lot of love and care from his Vietnamese teachers and friends.

Ambassador Saadi Salama also affirmed the important role of Vietnamese language in developing cultural, economic, political and social cooperation between Vietnam and other countries around the world. The language not only helps him understand the country and people of Vietnam but also makes him fall in love with this friendly and beautiful land. For a Palestinian, in particular, when his homeland is still in search of independence, Vietnamese language also offers a chance to learn about the secrets of winning all foreign invaders and building the country thus becoming an enormous encouragement for Palestinian people to remain determined and keep faith with the future independence of their homeland.

The Palestinian Ambassador also expressed his sincere happiness to become the friendship bridge between Vietnam and Palestine in particular and with the Arab world in general.

In conclusion, he wished the Department of Vietnamese language of Hanoi University and all of its staff, teachers and students great successes in the future.
